About James Betts

James Betts has a passion for sculpting wood that began at an early age.  At only 14 years old James designed, created, and sold wooden toys at the Pike Street Market in Seattle, Washington.

In the summer of ‘96 James attended North Bennet Street School in Boston, Massachusetts.  Surrounded by the old master crafts from woodworking, bookbinding, and musical instrument making, James was inspired to begin an enormous project replicating the grand Newport Block Front Secretary from the 18th Century. This reproduction was honored with the Best of Show Award at the

" International Design in Wood Exhibition” in Delmar, California. Since this first debut James has continued to receive international awards and acclaim for many of his personal projects.

Accepting a myriad of woodworking projects that included creating wood sculptures, building custom furniture, and cabinet making, has given James the valuable education only experience can provide. These many unique projects have granted James the opportunity to grow and become the master woodworker he is today.
